While the PNC Championship may not be widely considered to be the most prestigious event on the calendar, the tournament is unique in bringing so many of the game’s greatest ever players from several different eras together and letting them battle it out on a pretty level playing field.
Lee Trevino has played in every edition of the PNC Championship, while 89-year-old Gary Player was part of a team which shot a 62 on Sunday in Florida. Meanwhile, Tiger Woods‘ wait for a win alongside his son Charlie continues as they were denied in a play-off by Bernhard Langer and his son Jason.
Nelly Korda was flying the flag for the LPGA Tour as she teed it up alongside her dad Petr. Of course, Korda has had the most remarkable year, having won seven times – including clinching her second major title.
It has been suggested that Korda has the best swing in the current game, with Hank Haney previously taking to social media to laud the world number one’s action.

Unfortunately, it was not enough for Team Korda at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, as their scores of 63 and 61 were only enough for tied eighth.
But following their second round, Korda was asked which players’ swings she admired most from those who teed it up in Orlando.

“Well, I mean, for Lee Trevino’s age, the way he hits it and the way he strikes the ball is incredible, and also I think in two weeks he’s getting a full knee replacement,” she said.
“And you can never go wrong with Freddy Couples, the tempo of his swing, the ease-ness of his entire game is so nice to watch.”
How Lee Trevino has fared in the PNC Championship
It is truly remarkable that Trevino continues to play in the event at the age of 85 – and seemingly so soon before he undergoes surgery.
And he certainly did not disgrace himself in the event this past weekend. Team Trevino finished in a tie for 15th alongside Team Couples as it turns out. But they had the likes of Team Immelman and Team Faldo behind them.
The PNC Championship is one of the few events Trevino is yet to win or finish as a runner-up in in his illustrious career, but it would be no surprise to see him back in the field for several years to come in the hope of ending that run.
