LPGA Injury Update: ‘Unfortunate’ Brooke Henderson Takes a Resilient Step in Pursuit of $11M After Concerning Recovery

Brooke Henderson and her glasses have been an instance since last year in July. For the 2024 season, she has been spotted wearing them throughout. The Canadian pro had a great start this season in her first eight finishes. However, things started falling for her in May after a T45 at the Cognizant Founders Cup. She was last seen in the LOTTE Championship where she was T18.

“It was kind of interesting year,” Henderson said. “I started the year well. I had a lot of really great top finishes and was in contention a lot, which felt nice, and then kind of cooled off there in the summer months, which was a bit unfortunate, but I feel like I’m on my way back.” After a terrible finish at the TOTO Japan Classic, she finally climbed back to the top 20 again. However, she was not a part of the field at the prestigious ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge.
Despite being a star-studded field, what made the Canadian professional miss the event at the Pelican? As it turns out, Brooke Henderson underwent a small surgery on her right eye, earlier this fall. After the AIG Women’s Open in August, she appeared in the field after two months for the BMW Championship in October. She took the time off the course to recover from the surgery.

“It’s been healing well,” she recently shared. And now after resting for another two weeks, the player ranked fourteenth in the Race to CME Globe is all set to make her tenth appearance at the 2024 Tour Championship for a purse of a whopping $11 million. What makes her decision to compete in the season’s finale resilient is the fact that her eye has not yet healed completely. How she fares in the event remains to be seen.
