Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton avoiding encounter amid ‘tense’ relationship
It appears that there may have been more serious reason behind the meticulously planned schedule of Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton during the State Visit of the Qatar royals.
The Princess of Wales and the Queen Consort, who are recovering from their separate health issues, made their presence known during the significant royal event at the Buckingham Palace, but the two royals were inconspicuously kept apart.
Kate, who completed her nine-month cancer treatment in September, was present during the ceremonial welcome, the carriage procession and the viewing an exhibition of Qatari items in the Picture Gallery. However, she skipped the official banquet the next day.
The schedule for Kate was revealed by Kensington Palace prior to the event.
Meanwhile, just a day before the state visit commenced, Palace issued an update that they tweaked the schedule for the Queen who will not be present for the carriage ride but will be attending the lunch and the State Banquet.
However, Kate and Camilla were not photographed together during the lunch and the gallery event which sparked some speculations.
Previously, a report by Us Weekly claimed that the Queen Consort and the future Queen share a “tense” relationship especially when it comes to their senior royal positions.
“She loves her responsibilities,” an insider told the outlet. “Her whole life, she has always wanted to be queen, so she doesn’t want to let it go so fast.”
The insider claimed that Camilla is “particularly hesitant to pass on her duties to Kate” more so because they have “always had a tense relationship.”
This is not the first time in recent months that Kate and Camilla have avoided a public appearance with one another.
During the Remembrance Sunday and Cenotaph Parade, as Kate marked her official return to royal duties after cancer recover, Camilla skipped citing doctor’s orders over her viral chest infection.
Meanwhile, Kate missed out on the Diplomatic Corps Reception at the Buckingham Palace two week ago, even though Prince William was in attendance.
While there has been no clear indication of a serious rift between the two royal women, but the Palace is known for its meticulous planning to avoid showing any conflict publicly.
