Who is Camila Giorgi, the controversial Italian tennis player

Camila Giorgi is a 30-year-old Italian tennis player, originally from the town of Macerata, although she is of Argentine descent, since her father, Sergio Giorgi, was born in La Plata and is also her coach.
Her first professional debut was in 2006, when she was 14 years old, on the ITF circuit. She won her first professional title in 2009. Then, in 2011, she had a very good performance at the Wimbledon championship.

In 2012, she reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and was ranked among the 100 best players in the world. Her best position in the WTA rankings to date was in 2018, when she reached number 26 in the rankings.
In her career, she has managed to lift two titles on the WTA circuit and some of her victories on the court against world number one players, such as Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka, stand out.

She has an aggressive game and, curiously, she is considered the tennis player who hits the ball the hardest. In addition, in her last participations she has been the protagonist of some controversies, such as the one regarding her father’s anger or the one that has to do with the dress she wore in her last match against Aryna Sabalenka.
