Nelly Korda is looking to make Olympic golf history this week and become the first person to defend a gold medal successfully.
The world number one is part of a three-pronged American team, which also includes Lilia Vu and Rose Zhang.
Céline Boutier is the current pacesetter at Le Golf National after carding a stunning seven under 65 on Thursday.
Korda claimed her game was trending in the right direction before the event as she looks to bounce back from her recent struggles.
Currently T13, Korda is certainly within striking distance after a demanding first day’s play.

Speaking after her first round, Korda highlighted the atmosphere at Le Golf National. The American even suggested she would like to see the Solheim Cup held at the venue.
“It’s amazing,” said Korda. “We were actually talking that it would be so much fun to have a Solheim Cup out here. I know the Ryder Cup was amazing, but the atmosphere was insane.”
French star Boutier was the fan-favourite on Thursday, and Korda claimed she heard roars from the 30-year-old’s group.
