Jordan Spieth, huge chip shot from off green

Jordan Spieth is one of the players looking to stalk the top spots at the 2025 US Open from the middle of the leaderboard. The American started the day with a +5, leaving him with little room for error in his quest to climb the rankings, but, as we waited to see how this path would end, Spieth was making it happen with several magical strokes.

Especially striking is his shot on the par-four 9th. Taking a tee shot into the rough, Spieth’s second shot missed the green, leaving him several yards short of the flag, even needing a solid approach to give himself a chance at par.

But, oblivious to the situation, Spieth pulled off a massive chip shot from the fairway that landed right next to the flag, and on a hole where he was destined to struggle to make par, he rolled in a birdie that left him feeling like a winner. Thus, with a series of magical shots, Spieth hoped to consolidate his status as one of the best players in the third round in the final stretch and try to close in on the leading positions. However, he struggled in the second half of his round and was unable to do so.

During the 2015 season, he won two of the four major golf tournaments. He first won the Masters, tying Tiger Woods’ tournament record and becoming the second-youngest Masters winner after Woods. After winning the US Open that same year, he became world number one. He also finished fourth in the British Open and second in the PGA Championship. Spieth finished the season with the most money and the most tournament wins on the PGA Tour, with five victories.

Jordan Spieth won the US Open Amateur in 2009 and 2011, joining Tiger Woods as the only multiple winners. He was ranked number one in the Polo Golf Rankings, a ranking of the best junior golfers in the United States. He finished second in the 2008 and 2009 PGA Junior Championships. He was named Junior Player of the Year in 2009.
