Lexi Thompson Extends Remarkable Streak with 19th U.S. Women’s Open Appearance
Lexi Thompson will make her 19th consecutive U.S. Women’s Open start next week at Erin Hills, continuing a historic run that began when she qualified for the championship at just 12 years old. Now 30, Thompson leads the 156-player field in total appearances, a milestone only matched this year by Amy Yang, who is also making her 19th start.
Among the most experienced players in the field, Thompson and Yang are trailed by Anna Nordqvist with 17 appearances, Jenny Shin with 15, and four players tied at 14: Carlota Ciganda, Moriya Jutanugarn, Lydia Ko, and Leta Lindley. The previous two years saw Brittany Lang and Angela Stanford top the field in appearances, with 20 and 24 starts respectively.
Since her debut in 2007 at Pine Needles, Thompson has consistently contended, earning five top-10 finishes, including a runner-up showing in 2019 and a near-miss at The Olympic Club in 2021. In the current LPGA season, she has made four starts, highlighted by a solid 14th-place finish at the Chevron Championship.
