The Jordan Spieth experience is alive and well at The Players Championship.
Having started on the back nine, Spieth began his day with a pair of threes on the par-4 10th and par-5 11th, the latter coming via a hole out from the sand.
Three holes later, on the challenging par-4 14th, Spieth toe-roped his drive into the water and made a double bogey. Another dropped shot on 15 followed, and like that, Spieth went from 3-under par to even just as quickly as he went from even par to 3-under earlier in his round.
On the par-5 16th, Spieth holed out for eagle again, thus recording his first round at The Players with multiple eagles, per Justin Ray. Then, Spieth had a three-whack on the famous par-3 17th, coughing up another shot but remaining in red figures.
The three-time major winner added a birdie on the par-4 18th after sticking his 130-yard approach three feet away. That last par-breaker capped a wild, whacky 2-under 34 which left golf fans in awe.
Spieth toned things down on his back nine, making a birdie at the par-5 2nd while giving up a shot on the par-4 7th. He ultimately shot a 2-under 70.
He sits four shots behind 2009 U.S. Open Champion Lucas Glover, who is atop the leaderboard at 6-under par after firing an opening 66.
