It’s the final chance for three golfers not already in the British Open to get into the field for Royal Portrush next week. But for many others, Friday at the Genesis Scottish Open is a day to secure Saturday and Sunday tee times.
The cut won’t officially come after Friday’s second round. With the five-hour time difference between Scotland and the East Coast, the cut should happen around 2 p.m. ET.

Daniel Berger’s double on final hole leaves him in limbo
If Daniel Berger doesn’t make the cut at the Scottish, it will have been some heartache on his final hole that did him in. Berger was 3 under heading into No. 9 (he started the day on the back), but he found a bunker on the par-3 and then knocked one over the green before chipping back and two-putting. The double puts him at 1 under and while he’s still right on the cut line, there’s a decent chance the number moves to 2 under.
After a great opening to the 2025 season in which he finished in the top 25 in nine of his first dozen starts, Berger has failed to crack the top 40 in his last four events, and has missed two cuts in the process.

J.J. Spaun needs a big second nine
Reigning U.S. Open champ J.J. Spaun is a few shots off the projected cut line as of 8:30 a.m. on Friday. He’s at 2 over and the projected cut is 1 under. He’ll need a good number on the second nine (he started on the back today) to make the cut.
