Jordan Spieth Supports Junior Golfers at Inaugural Crush It! Cup Amid Recovery
Jordan Spieth, currently sidelined until 2025 following surgery on his left wrist to fix a tendon injury, remains deeply involved in the golf community through his charitable efforts. The 13-time PGA Tour winner played a key role in the debut Crush It! Cup, held at Brookhaven Country Club near Dallas. The tournament featured 36 junior golfers, mostly middle-schoolers, who qualified through a nationwide fundraising marathon hosted at 140 clubs operated by Invited, formerly ClubCorp.
Invited, the largest operator of private membership clubs in the U.S., spans 26 states and employs 20,000 people during peak season. Spieth, a brand ambassador and investor with Invited since 2022, both hosted the event and offered coaching advice, enjoying the chance to reconnect with the game through young players’ eyes. He reflected on how refreshing it was to see golf as a game rather than a job, sparking fond memories of his own early days.
Brookhaven holds special significance for Spieth, as it was the first club owned by Invited and where he honed his skills as a youth. Joey Anders, Spieth’s former coach and now head of Brookhaven’s youth golf program, was present and praised for his dedication to developing young talent. Spieth described Anders as selfless and passionate about teaching, noting that the current group of juniors shows promising growth reminiscent of his own generation.
The event also served as a reunion of sorts, allowing Spieth to catch up with his old mentor and gain insight into the new wave of junior golfers. The shared enthusiasm between coach and player underscores the strong community and legacy of youth golf at Brookhaven and beyond. Spieth’s engagement highlights his commitment to nurturing the sport’s future, even as he focuses on his recovery.
With these seventh and eighth graders already showing impressive skill and dedication, the prospect of seeing new Texan stars rise on the professional golf circuit by the mid-2030s seems increasingly likely. The Crush It! Cup marks a promising start for these young athletes, fueled by the encouragement of one of golf’s brightest champions.
