With her tennis friends and the WTA Tour suggesting they have not had any contact with Giorgi in recent days, this story appeared to take a turn when Italian newspapers reported she had fled the country amid an investigation into her financial affairs.
Giorgi has yet to make any comment on those reports, but she has now confirmed he has called time on her tennis career with these comments on Instagram.

Giorgi’s final match as a professional came with a defeat against world No 1 Iga Swiatek at the Miami Open in March and she lays her rackets down for the last time with great moments to look back on.
Giorgi has a little over 736k followers on her Instagram page, with that number swelled by the news around her retirement in recent days.
Many of her fans admire her for more than her tennis, with the revealing images she posts on her social media platform one of the reasons why she is one of the most followed tennis stars on Instagram.
