Camila Giorgi Debunks Wild Rumors on Fleeing Italy With a Sharp Message to Haters – ‘I Have a Lawyer’

“Please trust this Instagram for truthful information,” Camila Giorgi stated, along with the news of her retirement from tennis two months ago. However, unlike other athletes, the Italian player did not retire owing to her declining form or injuries. Many argued that it was a persistent tax accusations that acted as the reason. But she addressed those as “rumors,” hoping they would subside soon enough. Sadly, it hasn’t, and in the latest update on the issue, the former player has called out the constant flow of criticism owing to some alleged “fake news” on the matter.

Entire tennis community saw the former World No. 26 play against Iga Swiatek in the round of 64 match at the Miami Open. Giorgi lost to her in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). And within two months of that, the news of her retirement surprised all of us! An Italian newspaper, La Gazzetta dello Sport, alleged Giorgi fled Italy for the United States. The report claims Italian authorities wanted to question her over discrepancies in her tax filings. The investigation reportedly extended to members of her family, who accompanied her to the U.S.: her father Sergio, mother Claudio, and brothers Leandro and Amadeus.
Following days of speculation surrounding her retirement, 32-year-old tennis star finally confirmed the news in mid-May, albeit without explaining her decision. “Please trust this Instagram for truthful information,” Giorgi posted on her Instagram story. “I am happy to formally announce retirement from my tennis career…There have been many inaccurate rumors about my future plans, so I look forward to providing more information about exciting opportunities ahead…”
