Camila Giorgi retired from tennis in May, two months after playing her last professional match against Iga Swiatek in Miami.
Former Italian tennis star Camila Giorgi retired from the sport earlier this year in May, aged 32. She played her last professional match against Iga Swiatek of Poland in the second round of the Miami Open.
Her best finish at a Grand Slam came in 2018 when she reached the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships. Unseeded Giorgi lost to eventual runner-up Serena Williams in three sets. The former Italian tennis star won a total of four singles titles in her professional career, and her career-best ranking was 26, which she acquired in October 2018.
However, during her tennis career, she also worked as a model. After announcing her retirement from professional tennis, she has started working as a model. Nevertheless, as per the Sun, she has been accused of stealing antiques and failing to pay six months of rent before fleeing to the US.
As per Italian outlet La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the former WTA star fled to the US to avoid questioning by her native country’s financial police. In addition to that, before leaving for America, Camila Giorgi lived in a rental property in Calenzano, Tuscany.
