Though the queen consort, 77, has been quite busy this week—she hosted a reception in an eye-popping headpiece, she posted a sweet tribute to her late dog and she received a major honor from her sister-in-law, Princess Anne—it seems she needs to get a little R&R. Doctors’ orders.
Per People, Buckingham Palace released a Queen Camilla health update just hours before she was supposed to appear at the Royal Variety Performance with King Charles. She unfortunately will have to pull out of this evening’s appearance in a similar situation to two weeks ago when she had to pull out of Remembrance Day events (and miss her public reunion with Kate Middleton) for health reasons.
According to the statement from the palace, “Following a recent chest infection, the Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have advised that, after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritize sufficient rest.”
The message continued, “With great regret, she has therefore withdrawn from attendance at tonight’s Royal Variety Performance. His Majesty will attend as planned.”
Though a health update is usually rare, this particular one probably does sound familiar as it is the same condition Queen Camilla was battling earlier this month when she dropped out of Remembrance Day appearances. At the time, the palace said, “Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events.”
