Professional golfer Justin Thomas is rating fellow athlete Jordan Spieth’s performance as the best man at his wedding.
On this week’s episode of GOLF’s Subpar, Thomas spoke to podcast hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz about his wedding, including Spieth’s role as best man.
“I hate to do this but man he crushed it,” Thomas, 30, said. “I’ll give him an A+. He didn’t lose the rings. You know Jordan, that’s always on the table.”
Thomas, who’s a two-time PGA Championship winner, adds that Spieth, also a three-time major winner and the 2015 FedEx Cup champion, gave a great speech. “He didn’t throw me under the bus but also had a few subtle jabs in there,” Thomas added.
He went on to explain that Spieth began the speech with a line from the 2005 movie, Wedding Crashers, starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. While he couldn’t remember the exact line his friend quoted he did recall how instead of connecting it back to Thomas and his wife’s relationship, he did something else.
“…and I’ve always known that to be true for Justin and I.” Thomas says. “It was funny. But I got to give him an A+, he did well.”
