Jordan Spieth loves something ‘fantastic’ the Scottish Open is doing which is a ‘great perk’

Jordan Spieth is set to compete in next week’s Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club – and the three-time major winner loves what the organisers have done ahead of the tournament.

Scotland’s annual open comes the week before The Open Championship, which gets underway at Royal Troon on July 18.

Beforehand, many of the world’s best players have opted to take time away ahead of the busy end-of-season schedule.

Spieth, however, is competing in this week’s John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run before heading to Edinburgh, and the 30-year-old loves what the Scottish Open has done to get players to next week’s event.

Charter flights from Davenport, Iowa, to Edinburgh, have been organised upon the conclusion of the John Deere Classic, something Spieth has admitted is “fantastic”.

Spieth said: “It had nothing to do with me playing this week at all because they’re flying people over from wherever they want to play in the tournament [Scottish Open].

“It’s fantastic you can fly from Davenport, Iowa, to Edinburgh, Scotland. I didn’t see that pop up on any other airlines, so it is absolutely great whether that’s the Scottish or the Open.

“Especially in the Scottish, where you’re getting guys to not go to a major, that seems easier. It’s a great perk.”
