Elena Rybakina Pulls Out of Eastbourne International to Focus on Wimbledon

Eastbourne, England — Reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the Eastbourne International tournament, citing a “change in schedule.” The world No. 3 made the announcement on Wednesday, emphasizing the need to prioritize her preparation for Wimbledon, where she will defend her title.

Rybakina expressed her regret over missing Eastbourne but stressed that the decision was made to ensure she is fully prepared for Wimbledon. “I am disappointed not to compete in Eastbourne this year, but after careful consideration, my team and I have decided it is best to adjust my schedule,” Rybakina said.

Tournament Director Gavin Fletcher acknowledged the impact of her absence but wished her well for Wimbledon. Rybakina’s withdrawal opens up the field in Eastbourne, giving other players a chance to shine ahead of the prestigious Wimbledon Championships.
