Scottie Scheffler has been named in the USA’s Olympics team – but US Open winner Bryson DeChambeau has missed out on a place at the Paris Games. The world number one will be gunning for the gold medal.

There had been doubts over whether Scheffler’s busy schedule and the demands of being a new parent would lead him to reject the chance to represent his county. However, the two-time Masters winner previously admitted that playing at the Games was one of his leading ambitions.

Scheffler will be part of a 60-strong field, which includes Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and British duo Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick. One man who will not be joining the high-profile names at the Olympics is DeChambeau, despite his dramatic US Open triumph last weekend.

This is because DeChambeau is part of the LIV Golf Tour, restricting his opportunities to earn ranking points for the OWGR. Prior to his last-gasp victory at Pinehurst No.2, DeChambeau sat 38th in the world as his performances in Saudi Arabia are not taken into consideration.
